This is exactly why regular wheel, tire, brake, and bearing inspections are so important!

We had an RV come into our shop after a call about a wheel that sheared completely off the studs while traveling down the highway. Incidents like this can be catastrophic — even fatal — at highway speeds.

For your safety, and the safety of everyone on the road, always make sure your RV is in safe towing condition before you travel. Some important things to check for are:

  • Lug nuts torqued properly

  • Bearings packed with grease and brakes inspected at least every 10,000km

  • Tire pressures per manufacturers rating

  • Leaf springs, shackles, equalizers and bushings in good shape
